Jason's Story
ABOUT US
Director and co-founder, Jason completed his carpentry apprenticeship in 2015. With the world at his feet, Jason booked himself a one-way ticket to Canada, ready for the adventure of a lifetime. Just a few short months into this trip, on March 18, 2016, Jason suffered a catastrophic snowboarding injury. On life support, and a 14-hour flights away from his nearest and dearest, Jason was declared a complete C4 quadriplegic.
Jason would spend the next 270 days in hospital, with no movement from the chest down. Enduring multiple surgeries and countless hours of rehabilitation, Jason had to learn to breath and talk again, and every minute spent awake was viewed as time to improve.
The ripple effect this accident had on his family and friends was monumental, as they rallied around him to get him back home to Australia. The bond between Jason and his older brother Will grew stronger as they spent every day together – at the gym, appointments, rehabilitation – adjusting and working towards a life that looked completely different to the one he envisioned walking through those departure gates just one short year prior.
Since leaving the hospital, Jason and Will have been determined not to let this injury hold them back. Surrounded by the most incredible group of friends and family, seeing the resilience and strength Jason exhibits every day is nothing short of inspirational. From skydiving and music festivals, to surfing trips and fishing – Jason maintains “where there is a Will, there is a way” – and sets about to live his life to the full every day.
